A grocery delivery startup active in Italy and based in Milan, Macai defines itself as a “full grocer in the q-commerce space“, i.e. a fully digital supermarket characterized by a wide selection that aims to reach an offer of 7,500 products and a delivery to the doorstep in a few minutes (maximum 30), thanks to the widespread presence of dark stores in city centers. Macai is today present in Milan, Turin, Bologna and Modena and foresees other openings mainly in Northern Italy by mid-2022 in medium-sized cities – not covered by competitors.
After being supported in the process of selling the majority of MyMenu to Pellegrini Spa, Giovanni Cavallo, CEO & Co-founder of Macai, has once again entrusted CBGC with the advisory mandate for the structuring of the pre-seed capital increase transaction.

GC acted as advisor to Macai in structuring the transaction and negotiating the investment agreements. CBGC supported the Company in establishing the founding team and preparing an ESOP plan.

The round was led by Lumen Ventures, which chose Macai as its first investment, with participation from Plug and Play Ventures, a first check investor, and Cats, a new venture capital fund.
